Explanation
Plain dictionary form + な = harsh/casual 'don't!'. Avoid using to people you don't know well.

Common mistakes
✗ 「先生、教室で 食べるな！」
✓ 「先生、教室で 食べないでください。」(polite negative request)
Context: to a teacher / superior. 〜な (verb-plain + な) is harsh-casual prohibition. Only use with close friends / younger siblings / pets. With superiors or strangers, use ないでください or 〜てはいけません.
✗ 行きなさい！
✓ 行くな！
Strong casual prohibitive: V-dictionary + な = 'don't [verb]!'. 行くな = don't go! It's harsh/male-coded. Compare with 行きなさい (polite imperative, 'go!') or 行ってください (request, 'please go'). Choose based on register and intent.

Casual prohibitive: V-DICTIONARY form + な. 行く + な = 'don't go!'. The form 行きるな wrongly inserts る (Group 2 pattern) on Group 1 verb. Pattern: V-dict + な (no る for Group 1).

Context: intent: don't eat — exclamation. Prohibitive is short な (one mora); なあ is emphatic exclamation ("how big!").
