Explanation
Casual sentence-final particle expressing personal feeling. Used when reflecting aloud — 'how nice!' / 'I wonder…'. Male-leaning in modern usage; women more often use わ or ね. Polite-register counterpart is ですね/ますね. Strongly informal.

Common mistakes
✗ 寒いなあですね。
✓ 寒いなあ。 / 寒いですね。
なあ is a sentence-final exclamation particle; it doesn't combine with です. Either use the exclamation alone (casual) or use the polite ですね (no exclamation). Mixing them ('exclamation + politeness') sounds awkward.
✗ おいしいだなあ。
✓ おいしいなあ。
い-adjectives attach なあ DIRECTLY (おいしい + なあ = おいしいなあ). They do NOT take だ before sentence-final particles. The form おいしいだなあ is doubly-marked. Contrast with nouns / な-adj: しずかだなあ uses だ because they NEED the copula.
