Common mistakes
✗ いい てんきですか。
✓ いい てんきですね。
ね seeks agreement on observed phenomena ('nice weather, isn't it?'). か turns it into a genuine question — but the speaker already SEES the weather. For weather small-talk between two people who both observe it, use ね.
✗ いい てんきよ。
✓ いい てんきですね。
End-particle ね follows です/ます (not bare noun). For 'nice weather, isn't it?', the polite frame: NOUN + です + ね. Bare てんき + よ would skip the copula entirely.
Register variants — both forms are correct
These forms differ in register, formality, or pragmatic context — not in grammaticality. Pick by context.
Soft confirmation (ね) 日本に 行きましたね。
Assertion + agreement (よね) 日本に 行きましたよね。
ね = soft confirmation; よね = assertion plus seeking agreement. Both correct - choose by nuance.
