を is required between noun and ください in standard speech. Drop is colloquial only.

Polite request 〜をください requires the DIRECT-OBJECT marker を before ください. の (possessive) would mean 'water's please' — nonsense. Memorize the fixed frame: NOUN + を + ください. Same rule applies to 〜をおねがいします and 〜はいかがですか (which uses は).
