Common mistakes

Comparison sentences use は to mark the topic being evaluated (とうきょう), and より to mark the comparison reference (おおさか). が in the topic slot would imply 'as for which city is bigger, it's Tokyo' — a response to a question, not a general statement. For a neutral comparison, は.

Comparison-reference particle is より (not が). 'A は B より 大きい' = 'A is bigger than B'. が in B-position would put B in subject role, contradicting the comparison frame.
