Explanation
こんな/そんな/あんな/どんな are 'this kind of / that kind of / what kind of'. Always followed by a noun.

Common mistakes

こんな/そんな/あんな/どんな directly modify the following noun - no の between them and the noun. Compare with これの (incorrect) vs この (correct) for the demonstrative noun-modifier.

どんな is the NOUN-MODIFIER form ('what kind of') — attaches before a noun (本). どう is the ADVERB form ('how / in what way') — modifies a verb (どうですか = how is it?). For 'what kind of books', use どんな + 本; for 'how about it', use どう.
✗ こんなに 本が すきですか。
✓ どんな 本が すきですか。
Question-form は どんな (what kind of); statement form は こんな/そんな/あんな (this/that kind of). こんなに is the ADVERB form ('to this extent'), not the noun-modifier. To ask 'what kind of book', start with どんな.
