JA「か」は えらぶ ときにも つかいます。「コーヒーか おちゃ」「行くか 行かないか」。
Explanation
Mid-sentence か connects nouns or noun phrases as 'X or Y': コーヒーか おちゃ (coffee or tea), 月よう日か 火よう日 (Monday or Tuesday). The か's are typically placed after EACH alternative (Aか Bか), though dropping the final か in casual speech is common. Sentence-final か (the question particle) is the sibling entry か.

Common mistakes

For "or", connect with か (e.g., A か B). Comma alone reads as a list, not an alternative.
✗ コーヒー おちゃが いいです。
✓ コーヒーか おちゃが いいです。
Disjunctive か between two nouns expresses an EITHER/OR choice. Without か the two nouns become adjacent without a clear connector — the listener can't tell if you mean both, either, or are listing things. か is mandatory in the disjunction frame.
✗ コーヒー と こうちゃ どちらに しますか。
✓ コーヒー か こうちゃに しますか。 / コーヒー と こうちゃと、どちらに しますか。
